Churches' Center for Land and People has moved from the former St. Benedict Center in Middleton to Ortmayer Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church in Janesville, Wis. The move took place this fall, and the center's board of directors officially approved a 4-year lease and partnership agreement with Trinity in a quarterly meeting of the board October 2007.

Trinity Parish was organized September 18, 1844, at a time when the population of Janesville, Wis., was 200. The congregation was the 12th parish to be organized in the then Territory of Wisconsin. Trinity is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee, which has long sponsored and supported Churches' Center for Land and People.

Today, Janesville has a population of more than 60,000 people. It is the Rock County seat of government for both an agriculturally rich countryside of rural livestock and crop-producing farming communities and diverse manufacturing businesses in a transportation gateway from Illinois into Wisconsin.

From this new home base, CCLP looks forward to ever-greater service to farming people and urban consumers of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. Our new office is at 419 E. Court St. in Janesville. We are in the lower level of Ortmayer Parish Hall, corner of Atwood and Court streets in the historic Courthouse Hill neighborhood and near the downtown of Janesville.

Finding the hall and block-long complex of Trinity Church, church offices (former rectory) and parish hall is simple. These are located in the heart of historic Janesville, about 4 blocks from the Rock River and between longtime 4-lane east-west thoroughfares (Milwaukee and Court streets) and just blocks from U.S. Highways (26 and 14) as they make their way through the central city. Maps of the property are accessible at Trinity's web site (www.trinityjanesville.org).

You can also call the Center's office, 608 754-1877, or Trinity's church office, 608 754-3402, for guidance on location and direction, parking and hours of operation.
